The Crescent Hotel In Eureka Springs, Arkansas (April 2006)
 |
This grand historic hotel is not only a superior lodging option for a stay in Eureka Springs, it is also a building with an interesting history! Built in 1886, this Irish-built stone hotel was constructed high on a large hill over-looking the Ozark mountains. In its day, it was considered one of the finest hotels in the country with all of its modern amenities, such as elevators and electric lighting.
Today, the Crescent Hotel has much to offer Eureka Springs visitors. It’s a popular location for wedding receptions and other special events. The New Moon Spa is located within the hotel, conveniently allowing guests to arrange for some pampering while in Eureka Springs.
Another interesting aspect about the Crescent Hotel is the haunted reputation it has received after hundreds of reports from guests and staff about paranormal activity and sightings. Even the Atlantic Paranormal Society investigators were unable to dispute the haunting claims after their teams captured ghostly images on a thermal camera within the hotel. The hotel’s hauntings have made it a favorite location for the paranormal curious. “Ghost Tours” are offered every night.
Personally, I’m a skeptic, but after exploring the hotel and the surrounding grounds…it definitely has a creepy feeling about it. It’s a beautiful hotel, but something about it just ain’t right! If visiting Eureka Springs, be sure to stop by this historic landmark. It’s well worth the short drive from historic downtown Eureka Springs.

The rooms in the back of the hotel offer
balconies and views of the lush courtyard. There is little
open space due to the large number of trees.

This little Catholic Chapel can be found down a long stone staircase behind the hotel. It’s always open to the public. I wandered in, but didn’t stay long! The interior is lit almost entirely by candles and the small amount of light entering from the dark red stained glass windows. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end! |

These statues are located on hotel grounds, in-between the hotel and the little stone church.
They really add to the eerie feeling of the place. |
